BSLN's GSM Contracts Postponed by Motorola's Petition
November 10, 2006
India's US$5-billion GSM contracts to be awarded by the state-run BSNL to Ericsson and Nokia will be postponed till November 16 at the earliest, the date for hearing Motorola's petition contesting its disqualification due to alleged technical and commercial inadequacy. Nevertheless, BSNL has been given permission at the same time to continue processing the bids placed by Ericsson and Nokia, which are expected to share 60% and 40% respectively of the 45.5 GSM lines.
